The 2026 edition of Blaugust is arriving in less than two weeks. I’m not at all prepared, but I do plan on participating in a rough and ready fashion as is my usual approach. If you blog at all you should sign up and participate as much or as little as you can.
What is Blaugust?
Krikket and Peril have done an excellent job describing the event and providing details, but in summary:
Blaugust is a month long festival of blogging and content creation, intended to encourage newcomers and old timers alike to create new posts and invigorate the blogging community. Participants can gain insights and inspiration from other bloggers via the related Discord chats and by reading each other’s creations. Emphasis is placed on encouraging each other and being involved more than on achieving an arbitrary number of posts for the month.

My goals
I am not setting a particular Blog post count goal this year beyond a minimum of five. I also intend to accomplish the “Community Builder” requirements: we’ll see how that goes. As a stretch goal I’d like to create at least one post on each of my three blogs during the month. Mostly I want to read other people’s work and see where their ideas take me in terms of comments and posts.
A secondary goal is to focus on short posts of about 500 words or so. I had a good run early this year of daily posts of about that size and may get a burst of energy again. If nothing else maybe I’ll ingrain a habit of posting succinct missives instead of novella-length thoughts.
