Blaugust is now underway and, if I know myself, I’m busy reading the posts produced by everyone else. Keeping up with other people’s blogging is where I find my happiness in Blaugust.
This is my second post about Blaugust 2026 itself, and I laid out my objectives for this year in the first one. My goals this year for Blaugust are very modest indeed, focused mainly on the Community Builder goal of the festival. This post already puts me about 20% of the way towards my objective of five posts, and I wrote it a few days in advance so I might even get a couple of days in a row if I’m inspired.
I also pre-wrote a post for one of the Community Builder challenges: that should appear per the group project on August 4th. This kind of ‘pre-writing’ is considered perfectly acceptable for the festival: I suspect some people start the event with 31 posts already written. Certainly many start with a good backlog pre-scheduled and a few solid drafts ready to go.
I’m no where near organized enough to pre-write a large volume of posts, however, and I find it hard to take the post count challenge that seriously. It is laudable, of course: I sometimes wish I could hit 31 or even 25 posts in a month. But I know my limits, and aiming for a post-count goal is just not in my nature. But even if I post only five times in the month that will be above my typical monthly rate.
Hopefully my increased posting volume this month will uncover a few things of interest for those who are participating in Blaugust as well for the general audience. I’ll be using what I find on other blogs for inspiration quite a bit, which means my content and tone will be all over the place. My goal is to keep most of my posts short and sweet, so if nothing else you can skim through the ones that don’t interest you quickly.
