Yesterday was the day Chris and I went to the Abbotsford airshow. Its one of our traditions, and one that I really enjoy. I’ve placed a ton of pictures in the album…

Chris’ visit; our trip to the lake
My friend Chris is out here on the coast visiting. We went today to Harrison Lake and rented a boat. I’m slightly sun and wind burnt, and a bit tired, but it was a hoot.
Anniversary celebration
July 31st is the date that my sister Judy and her husband Bryan got married. 40 years have passed since that fateful day (“It was a dark and stormy night…“), and Judy organized a big get together to celebrate. But being the kind of person she is, she expanded the party to include celebration of Shane and Monique’s wedding as well as Irene and my wedding…all based on the fact that we were married sometime in July.
Battle…
Last night when I went to sleep (a couple of hours after Irene), I found one of Irene’s greatest fears scurrying across the bathroom floor…a spider.
This one stopped as soon as I turned on the light. I swear it was staring at me. I pondered my options. My usefulness as a husband in Irene’s eyes basically boils down to taking out the garbage on Wednesdays and dealing with any spiders in the house. But not killing them- she doesn’t want them killed, just removed from the house. But this spider was pretty big, and so I had to improvise a trap.
Hot…
Its hot today. I think it must have gotten up to maybe 30 degrees celsius. You folks from tropical climates are probably shivering at the thought, but 30 degrees is up in the upper 80’s on the farenheit scale, and I don’t have air conditioning in my house.
Gordon Kirkland
When Irene and I were at Harrison Hotsprings last weekend, we noticed a beautiful golden coloured dog laying near where some conference-type people had set up their sign-in table. We walked past this dog several times- she was obviously a service dog, and lay on the floor near one of the tables with statuesque grace. She watched us when we passed, obviously interested in what was going on, but dedicated to her job and her human.
Getaway…
My wife and I took a little break from real life over the past 24 hours. We went up to Harrison Hotsprings and stayed in a nice hotel there for one night.
Happy Anniversary!
Irene and I have been married for 15 years as of today. Having Irene in my life totally changed my perspective on things for the better.
Vacation down the Oregon Coast…
My wife Irene and I went on a vacation together this past week. It was our first vacation as a couple in years: with the animals and so forth, its a real challenge leaving the house for more than a day.
Edmonton: there and back again
I went on a road trip last week, packing my Mom and sister Connie into the car and driving to Edmonton. It was a quick trip, just to spend a day or two visiting my family back there. I took some pictures as we travelled, but of them all I think I might like this one the best…
