We had our beloved cat Iris euthanized after a long illness on May 1 of this year at the age of 19 and one half years. I’ve been remiss in terms of reporting on this fact for no good reason other than it hurt then and it continues to hurt now. But I felt it was only fair to say something about our loss of our beloved grey and white tabby girl since I so recently reported on a new addition to our household, Sapphire.

Irene bugs me now and then regarding the fact that I don’t post many pictures of our animal family members here on this blog. She is right, and my rationale is thus: I post those pictures mostly on Facebook.
Why Facebook? I guess mainly because I try to use Facebook for short-form posts, and the most common of these for me is some cute pictures of our cats.

I’ve been working a lot lately, scrambling to catch up with some application programming work. Part of this is a result of being behind the technological curve in terms of the particular programming environment I’m working in (J2EE/WebSphere/Hibernate/Spring). Suffice it to say I’ve been working some overtime.
I have a couple of kitten pictures of Iris and Bilbo that show how a fourteen year old and (at the time) a 14 week old kitten can co-exist.
I admit it…I’m weak. Put a tiny little kitten in my hands, and I toss all reason and logic to the wind. Nimbus came into our lives through Irene’s volunteering at a local pet shelter. And now Iris has joined our catty household due to a visit to our friendly vet…
