ACPI and standby
My main personal computer crashed last week, as I mentioned on July 12. I managed to get everything working again, with one exception- standby mode.
Black holes, LHC, Star Wars, quantum uncertainty… if it is of general geek interest, but doesn’t fit into one of the other categories, it lands here.
Karl Rove, your conscience called…
I have this image of Karl Rove, one of George Bush’s senior advisors and architect of his re-election campaign, smoking a big cigar (Cuban) and laughing at America. This is a guy who advises trotting out patriotism as an excuse for violating civil rights, lying to the public about fictional WMD, and calling political opponents who actually served in a war “cowards” and liars.
Pain in the neck
My back hurts. More specifically, my upper back: my doctor said something about C4-5 and C5-6, and spondylolisthesis, which sounds like a kind of fungus. The pain comes and goes, and is sometimes accompanied by numbness in my arm. He prescribed painkillers and physiotherapy. I’ve been putting off the physio, but the pain today has gotten to be a bit much so I think its about time.
No Justice
I am getting tired of reading news stories about people committing violent crimes with their cars and then getting off with the judicial equivalent of a DUI conviction
Google Earth is cool
A week or so ago a co-worker of mine showed me a program he was playing with- Google Earth. Its a beta, and I had heard of it before, but it hadn’t really intrigued me very much until Dan showed it to me.

First, let me dispell any misapprehension you might have regarding this post: it is not about condoms.
Now that I have that out of the way, what *is* this post about? Yesterday I was checking out other blogs by doing some searches on Technorati. One of the ones I clicked on caused my virus checker to throw a fit. Apparently, the site I was going to redirected me to http://please click run to remove virus .c4tdownload.com/click_run_to_remove_virus.exe. Firstly, I thought I was going to a blog, not a software install, and secondly, the “virus remover” was actually a trojan (Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}).

Okay, so its really not very new. I took my old Kelly’s World banner image, spread the pictures around, and made the title larger. I’m not an artist- wanna make something out of it? 🙂
