Oblivion was only released a couple of weeks ago, but it has already spawned a number of hacks, innumerable tips and hint commentaries, and one (two more to follow) “official” add on.

Apparently there is big money in vibrators…
I was reading today about Sony’s legal battles with Immersion regarding game controllers that vibrate. The story itself is the usual: Immersion patented certain technologies that make game pads and the like go “bump”, and Sony apparently used the same basic technology without paying Immersion’s licensing fees.

Dungeons and Dragons Online- Beta/Preview thoughts
I’ve played D&D Online a grand total of maybe 15 hours. I was part of a stress test and now a preview of the game. Apparently the non disclosure agreement has been lifted, so I can make a few comments.

Playing on Easy…
I play a fair number of computer games. Many of these games have a difficulty setting when you play them: Easy…Normal…Intermediate…Difficult. I usually pick either Easy or Normal.
Am I a “loser”? Fair question, but actually I often ask exactly the opposite question: are people who who play on “difficult” losers?
XBox thoughts
I’ve had my XBox for a little over a week now. In that time, I’ve played maybe 10 hours on the box, and spent another 5 hours putzing with setup and hardware. I now feel qualified to offer a bit of an opinion.
I’d say that Microsoft’s XBox is a pretty cool piece of technology. I thought this when they first released it back in, I guess, 2000. A console based on PC technology- it has an Intel processor, uses an NVidia video processor, and has a hard drive- basically, a purpose built PC compatible. But why would I have one of these when I already have a much more powerful PC on my desk?

Hulk Smash! I might just have to buy an XBox…
Apparently there has been a new Incredible Hulk console game, and it is good.
I sometimes like mindless violence in my games, and I can’t think of a better character to play for a bit of mindless violence than the Big Green Guy. The first incredible hulk game got luke warm reviews, but so far Incredible Hulk- Ultimate Destruction has been getting some pretty decent reviews, holding up at 8 out of ten on most reviews.

Sacred and Windows XP x64
I bought Sacred by Ascaron the other day. Its a pretty good game, basically a super-sized Diablo with a huge world to run around in. There is only one problem: it doesn’t run on my computer.
Congratulations to the new Antonia Bayle…
Sony and Stuff have announced the winner of the Antonia Bayle contest.
Anna Wainscoat wasn’t my choice- I felt Teresa Noreen was closer in appearance to the Queen of Qeynos and seemed more interested in EverQuest and its players, but…who knows? Anna bears at least a passing resemblance to Antonia, and maybe she actually gives a damn about the game. There’s an interview with her on Gamecloud that sort of implies she’s a console gamer and new to PC games…although it also implies she’s at least tried EQ2, so thats something.
EverQuest 2- the Rise of Isolation in MMOGs
Back in the bad old days (circa 1999), massively multi-player online games allowed player to player interaction. I’m not talking about player killing: I’m referring to the ability of one player’s actions to impact another, for good or ill. Then things began to change…and I don’t personally believe the changes were all for the better.

Gaming quandry…
I play massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs, or sometimes MMORPG if the game is of the roleplaying type). At times in the past seven years or so, playing these games has consumed the lions share of my free time: up to about 20 or so hours a week.
