I agree that liking or not is a subjective choice, Bhagpuss. It is just nice for me to have the feature working again.
For me a like is generally akin to a hat tip or nod of acknowledgement as I pass through on my journey around the internet jungle. When I click the like button I am saying: “I read / saw your thing and appreciate you sharing it! But I don’t have anything to add or specific nuance to discuss that warrants a comment at the moment.”
I appreciate getting a like as it tells me that someone at least read the post. Comments are, of course, better: a dialogue is more enjoyable. But this whole ‘interaction’ with the reader seems to be out of style these days based on the number of blogs I’ve looked at with no comments, likes, images, or formatting. I guess I’m a throwback in that regard.
