Heheh 🙂 Yeah, well, I have two strategies to deal with that:

1) the workbench will be in our gym room, which is closed (and will soon be air conditioned!)

2) the workbench has drawers, including a “catch tray” (the idea of which is to sweep the miscellaneous parts into off the work bench and slide closed)

I still expect to have plenty of problems. One of several reasons I want to work on clocks rather than watches: the “bits” are much larger and are a little harder to lose!

The bench itself is really designed for jewelers, but it is pretty similar to workbenches I’ve seen pictured for clock makers/repair people. Yes, I’ve googled benches that much- even looked at the pictures of clock/watch maker training schools to see what the facilities look like. I toyed briefly with the idea of buying a book on bench construction and making my own… but I started adding up the tool costs, and realized I’d need a space about the size of my garage for several weeks in order to create the thing. Buying something pre-made, even if imperfect, seemed like a wiser course.

One of the real problems with the Internet and me: I ask a lot of questions, and the Internet is full of answers. I can drown in data 🙂
